What is Enterococcus faecium?
Enterococcus faecium is a gram-positive lactic acid bacteria of the Enterococcus genus. Various strains of the Enterococcus genus possess the ability to prevent or stave off food spoilage. This may have a positive impact on crop yield when introduced to the soils ecosystem. The specific strain Enterococcus faecium produces anti-bacterial proteins, also known as bacteriocins, which then inhibit the spoiling of food and pathogenic bacteria.
