What is Bacillus megaterium?

Bacillus megaterium is a gram-positive bacterium that is part of the genus Bacillus. This particular bacterium can form spores and produce potassium-fixing and phosphate-fixing fertilizers, specifically exampling efficacy in degrading organic phosphorus within the soil. B. megaterium is known for its ability to improve soil's micro-ecological environment, which enables dominant bacterial flora found within the soil to maintain a dominant position. Additionally, B. megaterium also reduces disease and residue from pesticides. Once it is applied to the soil, it then begins to multiply, making it the dominant bacteria, allowing it to control the resources and nutrition within the rhizosphere. The bacterium also thickens cell walls, fibrosis, and lignification of the plant's relevant tissue. It forms a horny double silicon layer outside the epidermal layer to form a barrier to prevent the invasion of pathogens.
